Two answers, because we make two kinds of garment. Goddess Kaftans are one size, designed to fit US 0 to 24. There is no size to choose and nothing to measure. Everything else - shirt dresses, pants, skirts, blouses, jumpsuits and most dresses - is sized, and those styles run XS to XXL. On a sized style the number that matters changes by silhouette: chest for a shirt dress or blouse, waist for pants and tiered skirts, your larger of waist or hip for a pencil skirt. Below are the garment measurements we can verify, the difference between our two kaftan silhouettes, and the situations where you should email us rather than guess.
One size versus sized - which is which
One size, designed to fit 0-24: Goddess Kaftans, Box Kaftans and the Drawstring Pant. These are not "one size fits most" as a shrug. They are cut with deliberate volume so a woman who wears a 4 and a woman who wears a 22 can wear the same garment.
Sized: shirt dresses, resort pants, Colette pants, pencil skirts, tiered skirts, balloon sleeve blouses, jumpsuits and most dresses. Most of these run XS to XXL. The Colette Pant is the exception - it runs S to XXL, with no XS. The exact range for any given style is on that product page, and it changes as stock changes.
If a product page shows no selectable size, that is intentional. It is a one-size piece.
Goddess versus Box
Both are one size and both are designed to fit 0-24. They are different shapes and they hang differently.
The Goddess Kaftan is the signature. Maximum volume and drape. Garment chest 62 inches, garment bottom 76 inches, garment length 58 inches. It falls from the shoulder and widens all the way down, which is why it moves the way it does.
The Box Kaftan is cleaner and straighter. Garment chest 55 inches, garment bottom 45 inches, garment length 59.5 inches. It is slightly longer and considerably narrower at the hem, so it reads more structured.
Put plainly: if you want movement, choose Goddess. If you want a straighter line, choose Box.

These are garment dimensions, taken flat from the garment. They are not body measurements and you should not compare them to your own. Every figure below is from our published Size Guide.

Two notes that keep this table honest. First, half chest, half bottom and half shoulder are measured from center to side seam - double them for the full circumference. Second, where a cell says "varies by style," we mean it. We are not going to invent a number to fill a box.
How to check a garment against something you already own
This is the single most useful thing you can do before ordering a sized style, and it takes two minutes.
- Find a garment in your wardrobe that fits you the way you want this one to fit.
- Lay it flat. Measure it across the chest from seam to seam, and measure its length from the shoulder seam to the hem.
- Compare those two numbers to the garment measurements on the product page or in the table above. If our chest number is larger than yours, it will be looser. If our length is longer, it will sit lower.
For a one-size kaftan, skip this. The garment is intentionally far larger than your body and comparing it to your own measurements will only confuse you. Use the length figure to decide between styles, not to decide whether it fits.
If you are petite, and if you are tall
We do not cut in heights, so we will be straight with you about what that means.
The Goddess Kaftan is 58 inches long, full stop. On a shorter frame it reads longer and may pool slightly at the hem. On a taller frame it moves more and sits higher. Neither is wrong, but if you are under about 5 foot 2 or over about 5 foot 10 and the hem height matters to you for a specific occasion, email us with your height before you order and we will tell you where we think it will land.
If you want a shorter kaftan, one exists: the Sonya 44 Inch Silk Crepe Embellished Kaftan is named for its 44-inch length, which is a midi. That figure comes from the product itself, not from the Size Guide. The Melba Mini, which is in the Size Guide, is 23.5 inches at the front and 28.5 inches at the back.
For sized styles, pants length runs 48.5 to 49.5 inches on the Resort Pant and 47 inches on the Drawstring Pant. Those are full garment lengths, and they are designed to fall long.
Alpha sizing, XS to XXL
On our sized styles, alpha sizes map to US sizes like this:

Which measurement to size by depends on the silhouette. Resort pants and tiered skirts: size to your waist, the hip has ease built in. Colette pants: size to your waist, and note the range starts at S. Pencil skirts: no stretch, so size to whichever is larger, waist or hip. Blouses and shirt dresses: size to your chest, and ignore the bottom measurement, which is intentionally generous. Jumpsuits: order your usual size, and size up if you are between sizes, because a jumpsuit has to fit at the shoulder and the hip at the same time.

The drawstring option
Many of our pants offer a Drawstring variant alongside the alpha sizes. Not all of them do, so check the product page. It is one size, designed to fit 0-24.
The measured facts: waist elastic 30 inches, garment length 47 inches, half bottom 16 inches, with a 2 meter drawstring. It is intentionally oversized and the drawstring creates your fit, so there is no measurement to match. Choose it on the fit and the look you want, not on a number.
Choose Drawstring if you are between sizes, if your waist and hip sit in different sizes, if your size fluctuates, or if you simply want to stop thinking about it. Choose a sized pant if you want a specific waist and a cleaner line.
Drawstring is a variant, not a separate product. Availability changes, so check the product page.
What varies by product
Things that are fixed across the house: Goddess Kaftans are one size and fit 0-24. Box Kaftans are one size and fit 0-24. The alpha-to-US map above.
Things that vary style by style, and which you should read on the product page rather than assume:
- Which alpha sizes exist for a given style, and which are in stock today.
- Fabric. Georgette and silk viscose hang differently, and the price differs with them.
- Sleeve and arm coverage. Look at the product photographs.
- Neckline depth, and whether it is adjustable. Some pieces lace up.
- Hem length on dresses, jumpsuits and mini styles.
- Whether a Drawstring variant is offered.
When to email us before you order

- You are ordering for a fixed date and cannot risk an exchange.
- You are under about 5 foot 2 or over about 5 foot 10 and the hem height matters.
- Your waist and hip fall in two different alpha sizes on a sized style.
- You are between sizes on a structured piece with no stretch, such as a pencil skirt.
- You need a specific coverage - a sleeve length, a neckline height, a hem below the knee - for a venue or a dress code.
- You are pregnant or postpartum and want to know which shapes will still work later.
