How do I care for my kaftan (washing & storage)?
Treat fabrics gently: hand-wash or use a delicate machine cycle in cold water, dry flat or hang in shade, and store folded or on wide-shoulder hangers in breathable garment bags. Avoid harsh detergents and direct sunlight.
Fabric matters. For silk and embellished kaftans, dry cleaning is safest. For cotton, rayon, and wrinkle-resistant blends, hand wash in cold water with mild detergent; if using a machine, place the kaftan in a mesh bag on a delicate cycle. Never tumble dry embellished garments — air-dry flat or hang on a padded hanger away from direct sunlight to keep colors vibrant. Steam to remove wrinkles — hold the steamer a few inches away to protect prints and beading. Store kaftans folded in breathable cotton bags for long-term storage; for hanging, use wide, padded hangers to maintain shoulder shape. For beaded edges, fold with tissue paper to prevent abrasion.
