Tanzania
Tanzania
Made by hand. Worn with intention.
The Tanzania Collection is a collaboration between Sai Sankoh, Tanzanian creative director Rosemary Kokuhilwa, and local women artisans. The collection features luxury handcrafted straw hats and bags inspired by the Serengeti, Zanzibar, and East African craftsmanship traditions.
Each piece is handmade by Tanzanian women using traditional techniques passed through generations — making every hat and bag a work of African artisan craft unique to this collaboration.
Some things cannot be manufactured. They can only be made — by women who have been doing this their whole lives, in a place the world has not yet caught up with.
Tanzania · Hand-dyed straw hats & bags · Crafted by Tanzanian women artisans
A creative director.
A native of the land.
A shared vision.
Sai partnered with Rosemary Kokuhilwa — a Tanzanian creative director and native of the region — to co-create a line of hand-dyed straw hats and bags made entirely by skilled Tanzanian women artisans.
Every piece carries the colors of the Serengeti and the coastline of Zanzibar. Every stitch reflects a woman who put her hands to it.
Hand-dyed. Sun-dried. Carried across continents.
Multi-generational.
Maasai. Magnificent.
The campaign was headlined by multi-generational women — including Maasai women as models — to honor their culture and demonstrate that beauty has no age and no single story.
These women were not a backdrop. They were the story.
This was not charity. It was collaboration.
— Sai Sankoh
Every purchase
goes further
than your wardrobe.
A percentage of every sale from the handcrafted hats and bags goes directly back to the women who made them — providing financial independence and recognition for their craft.
A local Tanzanian artist was also commissioned to hand-paint a couture gown for auction, with proceeds benefiting the local arts community.
The Serengeti. The artisans. The women who made this possible.
