What to Wear to a Zeta Phi Beta Boule
Royal blue and white, a week of Finer Womanhood and business, and a Grand Boulé that's photographed from the opening to the banquet. Here's how to pack for all of it — and look like yourself, in the colors, without overpacking.
Blue Eloise Goddess Kaftan
Founded at Howard University on January 16, 1920 by the five women known as the Five Pearls, Zeta Phi Beta built itself on Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood — and remains constitutionally bonded with Phi Beta Sigma. Its colors are royal blue and white, and the Grand Boulé is where the sorority gathers to govern, honor and celebrate.
This guide comes from a house Zetas already choose. When the Zeta Phi Beta Southern Region kicked off its conference, the sorority's International President, Dr. Stacie NC Grant, did it with a "Women Who Win" pop-up at the Sai Sankoh showroom in Dallas. Zeta's International 1st Vice President, Gina Merritt-Epps, wore her white Sai Sankoh Melba at the 2025 Conclave. The label was also named Best Resortwear by D Magazine in 2024 and worn by Beyoncé and supermodel Iman.
Royal blue and white, worn with intention
Let royal blue and white lead — as real clothing, not a uniform. A royal-blue goddess kaftan or a floor-length dress reads beautifully at the banquet. Crisp white and ivory separates are sharp for daytime sessions and photograph clean. A print that carries royal blue is a smart everyday choice for the marketplace and committee days, because it reads as you first and the colors second. Keep the line clean and let the blue be the statement.
What the Boule asks for
Business and plenary sessions. Long hours — comfort matters. Wide-leg trousers with a clean blouse, or a fluid dress, block heel.
Workshops and the marketplace. Movement and photos all day — a shirt dress or a set you can split.
Finer Womanhood luncheon. A polished, photographed midday event — a blue-or-white dress that reads well seated and standing.
The banquet. A long royal-blue goddess kaftan or gown for dinner, awards and the celebration.
The Boule capsule
Build around a royal-blue banquet piece, a white or printed set you can split, a shirt dress for the marketplace, wide-leg trousers with two blouses, and a silk scarf to tie the colors. A block heel for day, a dressier sandal for night, a tote and a clutch. That's most of the week from a carry-on — and every piece earns its place at the next conference and your chapter's events. Check the official program for white-attire days and the formal nights.
